Pilot Reserve Momposina Depression

Establishment of a Pilot Reserve Area in three Municipalities from the Momposina Depression, Department of Bolívar, Colombian Caribbean, 2011 – 2012.

At Momposina Depression the excessive exploitation issues, environmental degradation, and the inappropriate use of resources, have altered the productivity and thus the regional economy. The Colombian Institute of Rural Development (INCODER) in Bolívar, has the achieve to give management for natural resources on its jurisdiction, so started a process for the establishment of a pilot reserve area, intending to encourage the conservation and ordering of resources submitted to the fishing activity, on the influence area of Cicuco, Talaigua Nuevo and Mompox municipalities.

MoAm developed the activities of secondary information review, fishery evaluation, rapid ecological and physical characterization, mapping, environmental education and divulgation.
